Song of the day: A Moment Like This - Kelly Clarkson
There are many signs that can indicate when you've truly made it in this world.
For some, it's a high-paying paycheck or people knowing your name or becoming a mom or buying a house or signing a new lease or getting that new car. For others, it's finding The One, or never having to work again or finally becoming comfortable in your own skin. For the lower of goal-setters, it's getting to cut in line at the club or never having to pay for a drink or finally making it to the game's next level.
For me,
it's getting Nana's Oatmeal Raisin cookies mailed to me.
You don't understand.
These cookies are *internationally* known.
They've been all over the United States and as far as Korea and Iraq.
They've been military-tested and approved.
These cookies have been kidnapped and ransomed.
They've been the cause of major explosions.
They encourage people to do bad things like steal or sneak them, go off their diet, have 6, or apologize to themselves and others each time they take one.
You can't get them in the store or online and no one else's are as good.
They only come by way of shipping but there's no order form to fill out.
They just arrive.
They arrive and announce you "worthy".
For YEARS, I've heard my sister and brother talk about them yet I had never seen or tasted them before!
Could these cookies really be that special???
YES.
Yes, they are.
They are just as epic as the stories that precede them.
I'll say no more as to not make any of you who have not received them feel bad.
(But they are and you should)
So today, when a box arrived so ridiculously packaged and doubly wrapped and taped in a manner that one could only identify as "Broken Cookie Prevention", I shrieked and clapped my hands.
I had finally arrived.
